Admission Requirements for Colleges of Education

WASSCE/SSSCE Applicants
For holders of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) or Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE), the general requirement is to obtain Credit Passes (A1-C6 for WASSCE, A-D for SSSCE) in six subjects. These should include three core subjects – English Language, Core Mathematics, and three relevant elective subjects aligned with your desired program of study.
GCE A-Level Applicants
If you hold a General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level qualification, you must have passes in three subjects, with at least one at Grade D or better. Additionally, you'll need credit passes (Grade 6) in five GCE Ordinary Level subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, a Science subject (for non-science students), and an Arts subject (for science students).
ABCE Applicants
Holders of the Advanced Business Certificate Examination (ABCE) must have passes in three subjects, with at least one at Grade D or better. You'll also need credit passes in five subjects from the General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE), including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies.
TVET Applicants
For those with Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) qualifications, the Colleges accept various combinations of certificates and credits. These include Certificate II in three relevant trade areas from accredited bodies, NABPTEX Certificate II in relevant trade areas, and National Certificate II qualification in Competency Based Training (CBT) in a relevant trade area.
Foreign Qualifications
If you hold foreign qualifications, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) will determine the equivalences and eligibility for admission into the Colleges of Education.
